"The Development Management Task Group brings together the cumulative wisdom and experience of those within member authorities who represent the highway authority within the planning process.  Services represented help to influence and shape new communities whilst endeavouring to protect the interests of the existing communities and the travelling public.  From domestic extensions to Urban Extensions; from wind farms to warehouses; schools to hospitals, the impacts of development are far reaching and long lasting.  By sharing best practice, innovation and the combined knowledge of the group’s members we aim to ensure that all those involved or touched by the planning process can make informed decisions.  The Development Management Task Group has fostered collaborative working between authorities and harmonisation of local design standards, custom and practice a greater consistency of approach that would not otherwise have been possible.  This has led to efficiencies and cost savings that have benefited member authorities.

The group also continues to influence Government policy thinking on highway adoptions and was key to the Department of Transport's Advice note on Highway Adoptions building on member authorities collective experience"
