Midlands Service Improvement Group

Winter 2016 Bulletin

Dear MSIG members,

A big thank you to everyone who has taken the time to attend the MSIG task group meetings that have taken place throughout the autumn. We have had some particularly well-attended groups, which is very encouraging to see. Thanks also those who have contributed in other ways by supporting colleagues with discussion board queries and updating benchmarking data for group members to use for comparative purposes.

MSIG Autumn 2016 Task Group Report

The MSIG Autumn 2016 Task Group Report is now available to view on the MSIG website. This report provides information about the activities of all 15 task groups over the last 6 months and shows how each group is contributing to the MSIG objectives set out in the 2016-17 Business Plan.

Efficiencies & Improvement Log

Since the beginning of April MSIG members have logged 18 new examples of how they have benefitted from being part of the group. To see details of these examples click here to view the full log. You can filter this document to focus on your own authority or area of expertise. Some group members may find that this efficiency log could provide some of the evidence required for the DfT Incentive Fund Self-Assessment question relating to Benchmarking and Collaborative Working.

As ever, it would be much appreciated if you could take 5 minutes to reflect on how your membership of MSIG may have resulted in an improvement or efficiency to your area of work. Click here for the log template which can then be filled in and emailed to alice.russell@derbyshire.gov.uk

NHT Public Satisfaction Survey 2016 – MSIG results

In order to help MSIG authorities to see how they are doing compared to their neighbours and make contact with authorities who may be able to share best practice,NHT have put together an MSIG report which you can view via the MSIG website. This is only available to MSIG member authorities and is not shown on the NHT website. Click here to view the MSIG NHT report.

Midlands Service Improvement Group Summer 2016 Bulletin

Dear MSIG members,

Thanks again to everyone who has taken the time to attend MSIG meetings over the last few months and to those who have participated in other ways by helping colleagues with discussion board queries and sending in benchmarking data for the group to compare.

MSIG 2016-17 Business Plan

The first MSIG Business Plan is now available to view on the MSIG website. This document sets out the aims of MSIG for the coming year and defines a number of indicators which will help to measure the performance and success of the group.

MSIG Benchmarking & Comparative Data

Following some feedback from group members who have been unable to locate benchmarking data on the MSIG website we have put together a comprehensive list of all the comparative data that we hold. This should also help those who are new to MSIG and unaware of the data that has been collected in the past.

Click here to view the list and please do send any updates through to me if you have some more recent information. The potential value of this data to all group members is greatly increased by keeping it current and also encouraging contributions from as many member authorities as possible.
